The Final Breakthrough in the Gotthard Base Tunnel on October 15, 2010, is a reason to celebrate not only in Switzerland but also abroad.

In collaboration with Presence Switzerland, the Swiss Federal Office of Transport is organising an event at the southern end of International Freight Corridor A in Genoa from October 14 to 17, 2010.

With the Final Breakthrough in the Gotthard Base Tunnel, a central milestone in the policy of transferring traffic from road to rail is reached. The improved and more sustainable link through the Alps brings Genoa and Rotterdam, two of Europe's most important freight traffic centres, closer together. New routes through Europe become possible.
